Initial Thoughts

Pulling up to the course, we thought this would be one of the better courses we have played on our journey so far. From Google reviews and other reviews, we were expecting good things from the course and other aspects.

Layout

Personally, I had no complaints about the layout. The first three holes have a similar feel to them, being middle-length par 4s with a slight dogleg left. A middle-to-long iron par 3 follows with a bicycle seat-shaped green. The following holes (5, 6, 7, and 8) contain water that is placed in great spots to swallow bad to mediocre shots. Finishing the front, a “handshake” par 5 that a player should have a look for birdie.

After grabbing a hotdog, holes 10 and 11 are easier par 4s. Hole 12 is a middle-to-long iron with water left, so aim middle-right and swing hard. Hole 13 flips the water to the right; however, hitting a wood or long iron will still leave a short stick in. Hole 14 is probably the hardest/best hole on the course. A par 3 at 184 yards, water sits short, left, and long. Along with that, a bunker is to the right of the green, so “safe” shots can still be punished. This is the part of the golf course that I thoroughly enjoyed. Finishing the course, 15, 16, 17, and 18 are easier holes where a player can make up strokes.

Greens

The putting surfaces at The Falls were very nice and probably the best we have played down in the STL area so far. Despite the course being played later in the season, Will and I had no complaints.

Fairways

The Falls had well-maintained and wide fairways, making it an easier driving course. I never had a bad lie in the fairway, making the round overall more enjoyable.

Bunkers

The Falls provided nice bunkers that were raked and well maintained. They were a bit soggy when we played, but that was more of Mother Nature’s doing than the groundskeeping staff.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse was nothing too special, but it had everything you would need to enjoy your round.

Pace

Teeing off at 2pm on a Sunday usually provides for a nice sub-4-hour round, and that is what we received. No complaints about the pace at The Falls at the time we played it.

Value

Unlike other courses, The Falls offers dynamic pricing for their tee times. Personally, I am not a fan. I shouldn’t feel like trading on an open market for a tee time. Just get me the flat fee and adjust yearly/seasonality according to how you see fit. However, we did play The Falls for a reasonable price considering we played a twilight round.

Final Thoughts

The Falls, other than being a bit pricey compared to the other courses in the area, was a very solid track. It was somewhat challenging from fairway to green. If you are in the STL area, The Falls would be a “can’t go wrong course” in the decision process.
